GUITAR LINKS

GUITAR LINKS

General
Ah yes, the ubiquitous guitar. An extremely useful instrument as you can play almost any style convincingly on the one and same instrument. Well, some of us can anyway! This is the instrument I know best.
Vintage Guitar information
- has a large section on vintage Martins & Gibsons.
Guitar Lessons online - good general introduction to (practical) music theory. And to guitar playing of course!
The Bluegrass Guitar site has tabs, lots of Doc Watson stuff AND you can vote for your favorite Bluegras Top 10 Tune.
If you're interested in mandolins then Mandolin Cafe is a pretty good site to start from.

Chords
Chord House has the best refernce of guitar chords I've seen yet - easy to use too.
Online Guitar Chord Dictionary is pretty good too.

Guitar makers/resellers/fixers
Martin Guitars - home of the D28
Crafters of Tennessee
- Tennessee Flat top guitars (plus banjos, resos and Tut dobros)
Gibson - make some guitars I'd love to own.
Guild Guitars - Now owned by Fender, who now also offer cheap well-made acoustics from Asia.
Peter Woodman - A custom builder on the Isle of Man, makes superb guitars, resonator guitars & basses.
Rainsong guitars
- carbon fibre, expensive, but great sound (still like my D28 better though!)
The Acoustic Music Co in the UK have extremely good guitars from the small makers like Lowden, Froggy Bottom etc.
In London you'll find Denmark Street - A whole street full of shops selling acoustic and electric guitars.
Just down Tottenham Ct Rd from the ditto Underground.
Jam - in Stockholm is where I bought my D28. Guitar specialists with an extremely good selection to choose from.
Ad Lib Guitars in Sundbyberg (Stockholm) are top class Luthiers specializing in repairs & restorations. No web site.

Artists

Steve Kaufman - Steve has produced masses of CDs and VDU for beginners. His "Four hour Bluegrass Workout" CDs are a must for anyone new to this music. He seems to be a very pleasant man, one of my favorite artists, along with ...
Rolly Brown - Super fingerpicker and Nice Guy. Has a brilliant Learn-to-play-Travis-style CD for sale (still defeats me)
Now if only we could persuade him to come and teach at Sore Fingers week in England ...
Gary Shearston - got me interested in Australian Folk music and banjo picking in the 60's PKT (Post Kingston Trio) era.
I still have one of his records in good nick (Bolters, Bushrangers & Duffers) if anyone's interested...
Norman Blake - my favourite guitar & mando player & singer, no web site. Short biography here on MSN.

Mailing list

Flatpick-L - homepage at Flatpicker.com. Mailing list for flatpick guitar & lost mandolin players

Tab
There's lots of tab on Jay Buckey's site and some interesting music on Steve Kaufman's site too.
Bluegrass Tab for Guitar - Czech site with lots of good tab, music and sound files for guitar.
Dan Mozell has tab for guitar & mando, mostly celtic.
